The activity carried out by the Motor Guarantee Fund (FGA) in 2018 was characterized by a positive overall performance, fulfilling the main objectives defined for the fiscal year.
The degree of satisfaction of users, as calculated by analysing responses to the monthly opinion surveys, was 3.6 on a scale of five.
The average claim settlement times were equally satisfactory, with an average of 20 days in the claims of damage to property and 31 days in the claims with bodily injury.
Compensations paid during the year totalled 11 155 751 euros, representing an expressive year-on-year change of minus 22%.
Compensations settled judicially amounted to 5 381 536 euros, 40% less than the previous year.
Once compensations have been paid, FGA has the right to demand reimbursement from the responsible parties not complying with the civil liability obligation to insure the vehicles causing the accidents.
Reimbursements collected in 2018 amounted to EUR 3 544 027, representing a year-on-year variation of 29%.
As an Information Center, the FGA responds to requests for information from users and counterpart Information Centers, regarding the identification of Insurance Companies and their Claims Representatives.
The Information Center continued its growth trend in 2018, recording 2 373 cases in total, 2% more than in 2017.
In the 2018 fiscal year, the certification of the transition from the FGA Quality Management System to the new standard - NP EN ISO 9001: 2015 - should also be highlighted.
